JOBS For local governments
Online job postings for local governments.
Jobs lets your staff post openings on your community's website and take applications online instead of handing out a printable PDF. Each posting closes on its own when the deadline passes, and residents can sign up for email alerts, so the next opening reaches people who already want to work for you.
- Every tool included
- WCAG 2.1 AA
- Works with BS&A
Why is hiring harder when applications are PDFs?
Small offices compete for seasonal workers, election inspectors and public works staff. When the only way to apply is to print a PDF and drop it off, fewer people finish.
What residents run into
- Applicants without a printer have to visit the office to pick up and drop off a form.
- Postings stay up after the deadline, so people apply for jobs that were already filled.
- Residents who'd like to work for you never hear when something opens.
What your staff deal with
- Your staff retype handwritten applications and chase missing pages.
- Someone has to remember to take down each posting after it closes.
- Advertising an opening means posting it in several places by hand.
How does posting a job work?
Post the opening, set the deadline, and the website handles the rest.
Post the opening
Add the title, department, description and closing date.
Subscribers hear about it
Residents who signed up for job alerts get an email about the new posting.
Applicants apply online
People fill out the application on a phone or computer, and it arrives complete.
The posting closes on time
When the deadline passes, the posting closes on its own, so nobody applies for a filled job.
What does Jobs include?
Easier for applicants to finish, and easier for your office to hire.
Online applications
Applicants fill out and submit the application from any device, and your staff receive it ready to review, without retyping a handwritten form.
Automatic closing dates
Set the deadline once. The posting comes down when it passes, so the jobs page only shows openings that are really open.
Email alerts for new postings
Residents subscribe once and get an email for each new opening, which helps with hard-to-fill seasonal and part-time roles.
Built accessible
Applications every candidate can complete
A job application is a way to take part in a public program, so it falls under the ADA Title II rule. Online applications are built to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, with labeled fields and clear error messages, which is far easier for applicants who use screen readers than a scanned or untagged PDF. Our PDF guide explains the difference.
Questions about Jobs.
Short answers, linked to the law where it applies. Ask us anything else on a demo.
Do job applications on our website have to be accessible?
Yes. The ADA Title II rule applies WCAG 2.1 AA to web content and posted documents, and a job application is something people use to take part in your programs. The deadlines are April 26, 2027 for governments of 50,000 or more and April 26, 2028 for smaller ones (ADA.gov (opens in a new tab)).
Should we still accept paper applications?
Many offices do, so applicants without internet access aren't left out. Online applications don't stop you from taking paper ones at the counter. They just mean most people no longer need to, and the ones that come in online don't need to be retyped.
What happens to a posting after the deadline?
It closes on its own when the closing date passes. Applicants no longer see it as open, and your staff don't have to remember to take it down. If you extend the deadline, change the date and the posting stays up until the new one.
How do residents hear about new openings?
They sign up for job alerts once and get an email whenever a new opening is posted. For a wider reach, the same opening can go out through Alerts & Notify Me to residents who follow general community news.
Can we post seasonal and election worker openings?
Yes. Any opening works the same way, whether it's a full-time public works job, a summer parks position or election inspectors for the fall. Set a closing date for each one, and residents subscribed to job alerts hear about every posting, which helps when you need a lot of short-term help at once.
Want more applicants to finish applying?
On a demo we'll post a sample opening, send the alert and show the online application on a phone.
